How Veil handles your data
What does Veil do before I upload a document to AI?

Veil lets you mark private areas on a PDF or image, then download a separate redacted copy. Remove names, emails, account numbers, and details you do not want to include in an AI prompt. You choose the areas; Veil does not automatically detect every sensitive detail.

Do my documents go to a server or an AI model?

Document contents stay in your browser. Veil does not upload your files to its servers or send them to an AI provider. Account identity, subscription information, and a random ID for each export attempt are handled by the service to manage your plan.

Can AI tools read the redacted files?

Flattened PDF and PNG outputs contain page images. Use them with an AI tool that accepts images or scanned PDFs. For text-based PDFs, you can also prepare a redacted text file and review or edit its contents before download. Text export does not perform OCR on scanned pages or image uploads.
